About the Artist

Bitossi and Flavia are two different companies owned by the same parent corporation of Gruppo Colorobbia, headquartered in Montelupo, Fiorentino, Italy. Flavia created various pieces for the US market, including this one which was sold by Saks Fifth Avenue.  Beginning in 1976 and up to 2001, all pieces created by both Bitossi and Flavia carried only the Flavia mark on the bottom.  In any case, these sculptural items were the result of great Italian design as well as exceptional craftsmanship.
They were not mass-produced. Wheel thrown, hand made, hand decorated pottery is always individualistic and imperfect. It is these factors that makes Bitossi/Flavia so desirable and collectible.
