We love this little guy, who is perhaps the most recognized piece created by female Danish ceramic artist Gerd Petersen in the 1960s.

About the Designer

Gerd Hiort Petersen was born in 1937 in Bornholm, a Danish island in the Baltic Sea. Bornholm is also home to Søholm Ceramic Factory since it founding in 1835.  Gerd Petersen began her pottery training on the island and later studied at the Arts and Crafts/Design School in Copenhagen. Since 1973 she and her husband, also a ceramic artist, have maintained their studio on the island.  She exhibits worldwide and is a member of the International Academic de Ceramique, IAC.
