Italian Gio Ponti Style Brass Mirror (1950s)
Description
This is a heavy brass Italian mirror from the 1950s in the style of Gio Ponti, an iconic twentieth century Italian architect and designer. Ponti's designs for mirrors and other interior furnishings reflected his sensibilities as an architect. He believed in clean, simple lines and curves that elevated shape over decoration. This mirror does not bear the stamp of Gio Ponti or Fontana Arte, the company for whom he was artistic director. However, it was carefully made during the same period and bears the "stamp" of Ponti's profound influence.
